486. Confirmation, in pure and perpetual alms, by Hugh son of Ingulf to the church of Westminster and the monks, of half an acre in South Lambeth (Surr.), next to the land of Walter the brewer, in the land called Hide, in order to link up the water-course of the Winterburn with the Thames. The abbot and convent gave him a gersum of two marks (£1. 6s. 8d.). [Temp. John]
Sciant presentes et futuri quod ego Hugo filius Ingulfi dedi et concessi et hac presenti carta mea confirmavi Deo et ecclesie Westmonasterii et monachis ibidem Deo servientibus, in puram et perpetuam elemosinam, dimidiam acram terre in Sudlamhee que jacet iuxta terram Walteri le bracur, in terra que vocatur Hida, ad entrahendum cursum ague de Winterburne usque ad Tamisiam. Habendam et tenendam de me et heredibus meis bene et in pace, libere et quiete, integre et plenarie inperpetuum, absque omni seculari servicio et exactione. Et ego Hugo et heredes mei warantizabimus et aquietabimus predictam dimidiam acram [versus]' dominum fundi et versus omnes homines. Et pro hac donatione et concessione et carte mee confirmatione, abbas et conventus dederunt michi duas marcas argenti.
