[[[[[[[westch 422. Confirmation, in pure and perpetual alms, by Isabel [Basset], wife of Robert Mauduit [II], the king's chamberlain, for her soul and those of her predecessors, to the Lady Altar, to provide lights, of two messuages in the vill of Westminster which she bought from John Testard, lying between the land of Thomas the vintner and that of Peter of Ely, which are of the fee of Herbert, bp. of Salisbury, as John's charter testifies. The proctor of the altar will receive an annual rent of 2s. 2d. from those messuages, as stated in John's charter, which she gave to the altar. [Temp. John, ante Jan. 1214]
Universis Sancte Matris Ecclesie filiis ad quos presens carta pervenerit, Isabel uxor Roberti Mauduit, domini regis camerarii, salutem. Noverit universitas vestra me, pietatis Dei intuitu, et pro anime mee salute, et animarum predecessorum meorum, dedisse et concessisse et hac presenti carta mea confirmasse Deo et altari Beate Marie de Westmonasterio duo masuagia cum pertinentiis in villa Westmonasterii: illa videlicet duo masuagia que emi de Johanne Testard, et jacent inter terram Thome vinitoris, et terram Petri de Ely, et sunt de feodo Herberti Sarresberiensis episcopi, in puram et perpetuam elemosinam; et sicut carta prenominati Johannis testatur, quam modo habui, et quam eidem altari Beate Marie in testimonium dedi, ad luminaria eiusdem altaris inperpetuum administranda.
