Appointment of Bartholomew de Castello, warden of the Change, because the king has learned for certain that he has sustained grave loss in his change by clippers of his peace and other counterfeiters of his money, and by others who bring such money into the realm from beyond the seas where, as he has learned, his money has been counterfeited, to prove and assay the king's money throughout the realm and arrest all incongruous and bad money; and mandate to sheriffs and bailiffs to be intendent to them and to arrest any clippers &c. found in their bailiwicks, with the said money. |
