Commission to John de Lovetot and William de Middelton to make
Mietvn. inquisition in the hustings of London if need be, and to do justice
as to the plaint of Nicholas Aysshewey and Felicia his wife, that whereas
Robert de Gatele, who bad certain houses of the inheritance of the
said Felicia in the city of London by tbe demise of the said Felicia for a
term now passed, by reason of divers trespasses committed by him during tbe late perturbation of the realm, was ejected from bis possessions in the said city and from the commonalty thereof, and the said houses and term were restored by command of Henry III. to the said Felicia by Walter Hervy, then escheator \ tbe said Robert afterwards returned, and in the absence of the said Felicia Jroin the said city intruded into the said house* and detained them from tbe said Nicholas and Felicia for the whole of bis life, and when they, immediately after the death of the said Robert and tbe completion of tbe said past term, bad had seisin of the said bouses for -10 days and more without impediment or reclamation, Stephen de Gatesle and Godfrey le Cbapeleyn, by reason of a certain writing of convention between
the said Felicia and Robert touching tbe aforesaid houses containing in
itself a further term, and which is in the possession of the said Stephen and Godfrey as tbey allege, ejected the said Nicholas and Felicia in the name of the said Robert and si ill detain the said house, wherefor the king had issued several mandates to the mayor and sheriffs of London to do justice in the premises, who so far had done nothing in the matter. |
