Inspeximus of a charter of Roger de Clifford the elder, granting to the mayor and citizens of London and the commonalty of the said city all his land with tbe bouses built thereon, late of John son of Geoffrey in the said city, to wit, laud lying between the lands of Aaron son of Vyves, Slema, late the wife of Peytevyn le Fort, Belasez, late the wife of Leo Preciose, Jews, and Sir Matthew de Columbariis, knight, on one side towards the south, lands of William son of Kichard the Tailor (Cissoris) and of the citizens of the city to the north, und extending in length from the high road called Bassingeshawe on the east to lands of the citizens on the west. Also 12s. of yearly quit rent, to wit, Rf. yearly from the whole tenement which the prior and canons of Holy Trinity, London, in the market place of Loudon, between the tenement of John son of Peter on one side nnd Isinongerelane on the other, and 4s. from the whole tenement which Benedict liateman, Jew, holds in the Jewry, London, between the tenement of Stephen Eswy on tbe east and that of Gamaliel the Jew on the west; to hold at a rent of a rose at Midsummer,
the mayor and citizens having given an earnest of 300 marks.
