RYE 136/2

Contents:
A messuage in the town of Rye lying between the land which was of Richard de Gatheberghe [Gateborough] on the east, the highway on the west, the land which was of John Samson on the south and the land of Andrew Colebrond and William le Paumer on the north.
Rent ½d. in mid Lent for all services and 18d. to the chief lords. Consideration: a messuage in Rye given by Brice to Henry which belonged to Nicholas his father.
Witnesses: William Byaufiz, (A William Beaufiz is mentioned as jurat of Rye as early as 1235, V.C.H. 9, p. 50. In this case he is elderly as his son is also a witness to the deed.) Herbert James, Henry Bochard, John Torel, Clement Paccock, Laurence Slipe, Nicholas Blund, Nicholas de Nesse, Thomas de Nesse, John Gregory, William son of William Byaufiz, Nicholas Joye, Walter the chaplain, 'notary of this writing.'
Seal, green wax on red and yellow laces, vesica shaped, a unicorn [?], legend SIGIL[LUM HENRICI] SLIPE.
